Careers in construction are some of the longest standing in the US. That means that if you’re looking for a new career, becoming a Skilled Trades Trainee or STT is a great way to explore something new. It also means that if you are not currently working (but want to be) or have limited education or experience, becoming an  STT is your chance to get the skills you need to succeed. As an STT you go out in the field and assist our experienced tradesman. As you assist them, they mentor and train you on everything about that trade.

Things to know before applying:


  • Travel will be required. Must be willing to travel and work from project sites on a nationwide basis for long periods of time.
  • Hourly wage is $16.00 per hour to start with a daily per diem of $32.00 
  • Must Pass Drug Test

Some examples of Training Programs offered :


Commercial & Low Voltage Electricians will learn how to measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit using measuring devices, hand tools, threaders and hand or mechanical benders.


Sheet Metal Mechanics will learn how to fabricate duct onsite to include miter and alterations to shop fabricated duct, use hand tools and portable power tools in the installation of joints of duct such as slide and drive, TDF, snap lock, and other assemblies as required, install HVAC ducts, repair control boxes, drainpipes, and furnace casings.


Plumbers will learn how to install plumbing equipment and systems. sanitary waste and vent, domestic water, storm drain, plumbing fixtures, and equipment in commercial facilities Install fixtures and trim Install plumbing equipment such as water heaters, re-circulation pumps, sump pumps, etc.
